Anderson has said in the past he wants 400 test wickets, Bell is still going strong, Monty now has a chance of playing a shed load more test cricket. Maybe Prior? KP, I suppose.

KP would be my guess.

Good question. KP and Jimmy have stated long term goals. And Prior is more likely to be dropped. Maybe KP, but not soon.

If Jimmy went that would be the biggest loss for England, I'd question their ability at the moment to take 20 without Anderson and Swann.

I agree with that. These two and Broad gave a useful attack. Broad plus others doesn't look good. But I don't think Jimmy will retire for a long time. We need to cut his overs and use him as a strike bowler.

Time to think again about all format players. I don't think we have looked after our thirtysomethings well for a long time, though things are changing a little. I suspect Ian Bell could do with a tour off, but it would come at a bad time with other problems. Hopefully he won't go to the WI.

I don't think Trott will retire from International cricket although International cricket might retire him. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him back in fold before the end of next year. His problem is stress not depression which can be overcome.

If KP continues to perform to recent standards and England continue to struggle he may decide he can occupy his time more profitably.

Imo KP if his form continues to dip. He's gone to the IPL before and enjoys big hitting tourneys. If he felt that he wasn't able to perform to the needed level he'd choose to max out the potential for tail end of his career and go or T20 leagues (BB,IPL) as there would still be teams willing to pay the money for him. Look at the way Shane Warne has made his career last despite being in his early 40's, I can see a similar pattern if KP chose that path.

I must admit, I'd already written off Trott. Him aside, I reckon KP will be the next to bow out, and I reckon it will be after the Sydney Test. With the IPL auction looming, KP really has reached that stage of his career where he's achieved what he wanted to as a Test player; he's played over 100 Tests, has won the Ashes 3 times, has worn the arm band. There's nothing left for him... including friends in the England team. He'll jump off a sinking ship and land in a huge pile of IPL money. Him and Swanny will both release books slating each other, triggering the book wars, which will carry on when they go up against each other in "Strictly," "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here," and "Celebrity Masterchef," before they both join the ranks of pro wrestling and fight off in a cage match, which will be won by Swann when Andrew Strauss, (wearing a mask) sneaks into the cage on knocks KP out with a crow bar.

James Anderson will be next after KP, retiring after the India series. Having done most of the donkey work for 90 Tests now, he looks knackered. One last roll of the dice for him at home and it will be curtains, I suspect. Matt Prior won't retire, but rather will get dropped after Sydney, and be deported to a prison camp in North Korea, never to be seen from again.
