Looks like Mike has finally figured it out. There's a vote for Carberry now after he has been picked.

I'd go for the usual guard with Root, Taylor and Ballance. If I were Miller though Bopara would be nowhere near any test team v half decent opposition ( ie Oz, India, SA and NZ)

when you look through this list..it amazes me to see who is still actually around, bearing in mind this wasn't a million years ago..

his only way back was as a #6 who can be a 5th bowler but with moeen and stokes now looking fairly established within the test squad I cant see how he gets near the test team again

For me the only query at the moment is who opens with Cook.

Hales or Carberry for me..

England have had some success with younger players.I doubt they'll go back to Carberry (or Compton). In fact I think Robson will open in WI.
