Yes, Mr Marshall has strolled this, as well as running away with it. Looks like you are right again Waughtwins. You've had one of your four votes, so you can still vote for McG.

I was the only person to vote for Donald.

I would have assumed Akram would be second behind Marshall, but is tying with Steyn at present.

I do wonder how skilful Holding was. From clips, it looked like he relied on his pace, coupled pacey wickets .

And bounce. West Indies home pitches were pace friendly back then, but his record in Asia was good, as it was for Marshall, McGrath and Donald. I'll dig out the Asian stats, as they tell a bit of a story.

Holding only took 30 wickets in Asia, but his SR is as good as Walsh's, that is, exceptional. Shoaib shows up well there, but like Donald, is often forgotten.

My minimum wickets was 45.

I only saw Holding in 84, when he was past his peak, and down on pace.

I'd have Marshall, Garner, and Ambrose ahead of him, though I did miss the 76 version.

marshall - just the best of the best
wasim - left handed option , genius with the older ball
garner - height, bounce and the best yorker ever
McGrath - relentless control and accuracy

as a unit you get a bit of everything

Holding still did well on that tour, I remember him bowling well at a lesser pace, like Lillee did towards the end. These are the stats from that series. I suppose it must have been about Marshall's peak. Roger Harper played in all five Tests.

West Indies played four seamers and a spinner, which shows how worried they were by England, as none were all rounders.
