Anderson still doing a job at 40.

Broad is 37 next month. Walsh and Ambrose seem to have been 39&37 when they quit. Though Courtney was 38 when the partnership came to an end.

I think Anderson will play 2024 and then retire. There could be a case of an injury for it to come sooner. Broad is lucky he has a job to go to. £5m at SKY. Just needs to be dropped from a few games in a row and he will be off.

Just think what will Broad, Anderson and Robinson do from August to December this year when there will be no Test Cricket. As a bowler with no bowling for 5 months you don't come back the same. Maybe they can go off to India and play cricket there. :)

Anderson injured apparently - not clear if he can play the Ireland match.

If there is any doubt, I would hope they'll sit him out and wrap him in cotton wool until the Ashes.

Well there were injuries to Anderson and Carse. Both been for scans.

Guardian - A squad for the Ireland Test will be announced this week, and Anderson is expected to be in it while his fitness is monitored. Mild groin strain

Carse would be the ideal person to play if Stokes was injured - Bowling 14 at 28.07 Batting 66.25 HS 108* but he had a runner. It's still 3 weeks to the Ireland Test.

Carse could be out for 8 weeks, according to the Durham coach over the weekend. That was before any scans, of course, but clearly it doesn't look too clever

with bowlers dropping like flies, Matty P's 24 wickets at 22's is making a strong case for him ahead of Ireland

Hey.... maybe Chris Rushworth will get an England cap after all?

30 wickets at 14's ought to be plenty good enough for the Ireland test

it'd be a story, wouldn't it? Has movie potential that one

Even worse for me 31. My mind went blank. I forgot Root but I remembered Borthwick!!!

Just looked up that series - Borthwick (1) 4 wickets at 20.50. Top of the averages but econ 6.31. Stokes wouldn't worry about economy these days. Swann (3) 7 wickets at 80.00

Spent about two minutes remembering Boyd Rankin's name.

Don't believe anyone remembered Mason Crane. One of those Sydney Test debuts I think.

no Crane for me, but I did remember Borthwick and Kerrigan. The two I missed who played more than 5 were Malan and ..... somebody else with 8 tests.... I've forgotten again
