Maharaj has done well for SA and has been a good bowler for them for a number of years but it does baffle me how harmer has never had an extended run in the SA side...and I'm not just saying that as an Essex fan haha!

Any thoughts that Cooper Connolly might have been a flash in the pan in last seasona BBL might be surprised to see how flashy the pan is this time out.

Started the month with 88 for Australia A and then two successive half centuries for Perth in the BBL. When he failed with the bat against Hobart he followed through with the ball with 3-23. A growing all round talent.....and a mere slip of a thing at 22.

I'll take your Cooper Connolly and raise you Jack Edwards, who has performed almost as well as Connolly in the BBL, but also started the month off with a 95 and wickets in the Shield

He made my Team of the Month but CC's allround credentials gives him the edge in my book

Nat Sciver-Brunt for January Cricketer of the Month award for me. Looking at her recent run for Mumbai, she’s been playing on a completely different level. That unbeaten 100* against RCB Women on the 26th was a masterclass, and she's backed it up with a smooth 65* and a 70 in earlier fixtures. High scoring at an electric pace.

She’s currently sitting at #2 on the MVP list for the Women’s Premier League with a massive impact score of 66.0. While Sophie Devine might have more wickets, Nat has racked up 321 runs in just 7 matches. She’s also chipping in with the ball, picking up 8 wickets and consistently breaking partnerships, like her 2/22 and 2/28 spells in mid-January. She’s essentially doing two jobs at an elite level, making her the most well-rounded candidate for the month by a mile.
