I'd go with two out of Lyon, O'Keefe and Holland.

Mickey Arthur says that he is leaving the door open for Mike Hussey to make a return to test cricket for The Ashes.

I see this as code for "Mickey Arthur makes a public and desperate plea to Hussey to come and save Australia (and MA's bacon).

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

That's pretty unexpected. What does Arthur know? Why would he think he should want to come back? And why would he go public with it?

Gosh it could turn into the Ferdinand situation with Hussey being recalled only to say that his fitness dictates that he can only play one t20 a month and is thus unable to feature in the Ashes despite the call-up do the importance of not letting his teammates down at the Wankhede Wildcats.

Mr Cricket has always been one for the prep work.

His fitness is not in doubt, he has continued on playing 1st class this Sheffield Shield season. Just one game less than Punter.......... is Mickey after him, as well?

Yes, bring Ponting.

Has Warne ruled himself in or out?

What will Fawad make of this?

Warnie has another decade (or two) of threatening to make a comeback still in him.

Who will run Ricky out this time?

Ponting retired because he couldn't buy a run, not because he wanted to stay at home with the kids like Hussey. So if RTP is again the best bet at number three, bring him over.

Obviously I have a lot of respect for Ponting as a modern great. I actually can see him wanting to come. If he thought it was better for Australia. And if he thought he could do it. But really he shouldn't.

No, I agree, he shouldn't. And this is the only place where I have seen suggestion of it (I realise that I started it, too).

But if he WERE to, it may just bite you on the bum.

The scoop is that he won't tour unless he's made captain (MJC voodoo doll, check...... pins, check), and that Gary Pratt is playing (as 12th man, of course).

I am currently sitting less than a mile from his childhood home, so it is quite obvious that I know what I am talking about.

I'm sure you'll hear when you go and get your hair cut.

Can we have an update Ashes squad now Ponting and Hussey are back?

Update - obviously the reach of CMS is getting wider.

CRICKET
Former captain Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey have ruled out the possibility of ending their retirements to bolster Australia's inexperienced batting line-up in the Ashes.

Ponting said: "International cricket has long passed me by and I've just been really excited about giving back to Tasmanian cricket whatever I could for this season."

Hussey added: "I've moved on and I really don't want to be back in that pressure-cooker environment, particularly leading into the Ashes."
