If it's raining in Leeds like it's raining in Nottingham, they're not going to gain any much needed experience today.

Playing today though. Crawley has a two ball duck.

No Roy.

Pretty rubbish for the ticket buyers seeing this England line up.

Faltering around the fortieth over, much as the first team has lately.

Slightly disappointing 334. But should be enough.

Not a bad effort though by the plucky Irish.

Seems Tom Kohler Cadmore has been called up as Roy declined.

BBC states TKC has previously been told by the ECB he would not be selected due to a historic court case.

Was the Alex Hepburn thing, wasn't it. Kohler-Cadmore setup a whatsapp group where lads from the team played some sexual conquest game where they got points for various sexual encounters, and it ended with Hepburn getting sent to prison for raping someone. I think the texts they all sent were used in the court case as evidence, and were meant to be horrific.... but TKC was never charged nor was ever suggested to have been involved with a crime.

Its hard to understand the ECB's approach to these issues. In light of modern cultural accountability, and doubly so in the aftermath of the Yorkshire affair and various reports into the game concluding there is endemic sexism and racism that needs to be addressed as an urgent, serious matter, I am not sure its a great look for English cricket that they would pick someone who has so much baggage coming with them.

Considering the greater debate, at what stage do people link the dots? Craig Overton was racist on a cricket pitch, got a cap afterwards. Robinson got found posting all kinds of racist nonsense, got back in the team.. Yorkshire had decades of racism, a minor points deduction and were hosting test matches a few months later. TKC sends text messages of an extremely sexist, misogynistic nature... in the team.

But send a text saying the captain's a prat? Career gone.... self-harm by taking a recreational drug... career gone.

If the ECB wanted to show they are listening to the reports about the culture inside the game, they arent showing it very much.

a very unsatisfactory series, all told. Not sure how that will have benefitted either team, thanks largely to the weather
