Its hard to understand the ECB's approach to these issues. In light of modern cultural accountability, and doubly so in the aftermath of the Yorkshire affair and various reports into the game concluding there is endemic sexism and racism that needs to be addressed as an urgent, serious matter, I am not sure its a great look for English cricket that they would pick someone who has so much baggage coming with them.
Considering the greater debate, at what stage do people link the dots? Craig Overton was racist on a cricket pitch, got a cap afterwards. Robinson got found posting all kinds of racist nonsense, got back in the team.. Yorkshire had decades of racism, a minor points deduction and were hosting test matches a few months later. TKC sends text messages of an extremely sexist, misogynistic nature... in the team.
But send a text saying the captain's a prat? Career gone.... self-harm by taking a recreational drug... career gone.
If the ECB wanted to show they are listening to the reports about the culture inside the game, they arent showing it very much.
