Great to see. I really see a lot of talent in this lad, hopefully this Kickstarts his career

He struggled one year or so because of injury. Once he recovered post surgery, he is doing what was expected from him. I think his career has already kickstarted few months back.As i mentioned in another thread, i feel he will be core member of the team by next year. He is almost there or getting there quicker than i anticipated due to numerous factors playing out in Indian cricket. But with Indian selectors and Rahul Dravid who has made some selection blunders you never know. There is tremendous hope from a fit Shubman Gill given the talent he has and can have long good patches like top class batsmen.

He played some county matches last year. With Prithvi Shaw having gone through injury and off-field issues, Shubman who was one of the contender for the spot in test batting lineup has grabbed the opportunity. Some day Prithvi Shaw or Yashasvi Jaiswal may be his opening partner in test once Rohit is not there. Chet is also in decline and will vacate one down spot in couple of years. So Shubman is going to stay anyway. I don't think there are other better batsmen than him - Prithvi is another class act purely as a batsman. Yashasvi is another i expect will keep knocking selection doors. Shubman is there to stay for long imo unless for injury or a dramatic decline in runs .

India still trail by 191 runs. Nothing to worry with Sir Jadeja still batting. ;) Jokes apart, it was nice to see Jaddu back after a long injury. He was as quick between wickets as he was before. Batted at 4 down today :hmmm . Seems like a tactic by think tank to have left - right combo. Shreyas and Srikar both being righties they probably promoted Jaddu. Ashwin batting at 9 looks very good on paper. With India having to bat on Day 5 pitch, we need atleast a sessions run as lead as cushion. Australia may have toiled hard for 99 overs under sun, but this series they are playing smartly with 3 spinners than in previous years. So their bowling department is well placed to cope up if there are two more good partnerships. Damage will be controlled.

Both spinners are biwling well in tandem. Australia have bowled 123 overs so far. Both Indian batsmen have played them well though so far.

350 up for India. 130 more required to breakeven.

Virat has made 84. This partnership is nearing to be one of the two good ones which India needed post disnissal of Shubman yesterday. The response by Indian batting to the total of 480 is very good. Especially Shubham who had to bat with little break after 2 days in such hot weather. Virat got few mire hours to rest but he has showed good fitness as well. Hope he gets a big 100.

Lunch break.

Good session for India. Lost only 1 wicket.

The partnerships between Virat and Jaddu and now between Virat and Srikar Bharat have taken India closer to equal the total of 480.

Commentators mentioned that there is some issue with Shreyas. That clarifies why Jaddu and Srikar Bharat batted above him. In that case these two have to put a heavy premium on their wicket with 115 still required to equal 480.

Shreyas not yet batting. India are specialist batdman short. Not a nice situation whrn one is looking to scire 480 atleast. But the Indian batsman have been wonderful inspite of absence of Shreyas.

Axar has scored 14 and ensured Virat has got support for another small partnership of 26 so far which can be converted into a decent one. India trail by 61 runs now.

4. Short by Todd on middle stump and Virat hits a 4 off that. India 423/5.
