Draws tend to be seen as a disappointing outcome. But I think there is a case for calling this one the "right" result. Interest and tension right up to the end so the spectators weren't short changed (some praise for the umpires keeping things going as long as they decently could despite the fading light).

But probably fair to say neither team deserved to lose ; and conversely neither of them quite earned the win...

Tick to NZ for a reasonably aggressive declaration (although one might argue they could have batted quicker earlier : might not have made a huge difference as they took two wickets late on day four in just three overs). But I thought they were a little too timid with field settings for much of the last day. Who knows ? Pakistan might have made the runs had they been set more attacking fields either side of tea : but equally the two main partnerships might have been broken earlier...the wonderful myriad possibilities of Test Cricket :thumb

Great innings from Sarfaraz. But for him there is no doubt NZ would have taken the points. Worthy winner of PoTM and PoTS. :salute

Despite the flat pitch , a very watchable Test Match.
