Bangladesh tour of Zimbabwe

It’s very hard to know the state of play with Zimbabwe as a cricketing unit.

Their most recent results saw them have their arses handed to them by Afghanistan in both ODI and T20s, they then beat all-comers in the Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers…and then come out and trash Bangladesh today…and it was not even close.
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first and then put on their second highest ever T20 total, 205-3. This only came about due to a late innings kick that started in the 12th over when there was a real spike in run scoring led by Wessley Madhevere. The 21-year-old is not a huge name yet but I genuinely feel he could be a T20 break out star for Zimbabwe in the mould of Rashid Khan. On current form he is in my Top 10 most impressive Cricketers of the Year.

In reply Bangladesh only managed 188-6, seeing Zimbabwe win by 17 runs. The second game is tomorrow with the final on Tuesday.

And then we're back to normality.

Zimbabwe were back to normality in a low scoring game today.

Zimbabwe batted first and scored 135 - 70 lower than their record breaking total of yesterday. This was largely down to the bowling prowess of Mossadek Hossain whose 5-20; his beat figures in any form of T20.

Bangladesh took the scenic route to beat them but still had 15 balls remaining qhwn they reached the target.

The decider is on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe defeated Bangladesh by 10 runs in the third game of the T20I series in Harare to secure their first victory over a higher-ranked team. To the delight of the packed spectators, the host team rallied from 67 for 6 to finish on a respectable 156 for 8, then held Bangladesh to 146 for 8 in 20 overs.

Ryan Burl was the man to turn around Zimbabwe’s fortunes as his 28 ball 54 saw them pull off the escape job and claim the historic victory. He notably scored 34 off a single over to help boost his own personal total as well as his team's.

The 3 ODIs will now play out from Friday until Wednesday next week.
