So they are playing tomorrow.

I didn't realise it had started because the first day was washed out!

A three day Test!

What is shocking is it was cancelled in the first place. Are the plebs forced to pay their "respects" by having everything that brings them joy stopped, just so we get wall to wall bloody coverage of people claiming the Queen was some demi-God wonder person?

I dont care what she would have wished. She no longer has the capacity to think or feel, and even if she did, she is an unelected head of state who derives her authority from a fictional deity that doesnt exist.

Well ok. But when the royal family is eventually pushed over it won't be by the ECB.

Be damned by some if sport had gone ahead today, be damned by some if it
didn't. If some are so entranced by a particular sport that they can't do without it for a day then there are plenty of recorded sporting events they could watch through the various streaming media. If the 1st 2 tests are anything to go by,this event will only last 3 days anyway.

Of course, my desire to watch a lot of sport has no negative impact on society as a whole, so I dont really have to justify it to anyone. Its a little bit of a different story when it comes to cancelling all forms of entertainment on the insistence that people should be mourning the death of the monarch, or that its disrespectful.

How is me watching sport disrespectful? How is people playing sport disrespectful? Is the suggestion here that, because someone I have never met died, I have a moral obligation to not experience any joy or entertainment for 10 days after? Because if that is the suggestion, and it appears so, I am not sure such a thing really is that justified.

Like anything, if you want to mourn over the queen dying, then simply watch the BBC 24 hour cycle .... you are not forced to watch the football or cricket.

Forcing the country to indulge in this nonsense by putting moral pressure on those that dont give a sh*t is the crime here. Not the fact I like watching sport.

I neither suggested nor implied anything of the above. Little I can do if that's your interpretation.

Not necessary. As I forecast in my original post, today's abandonment probably means we'll have some cricket to watch on Monday.

The match is going ahead on Saturday but the cancelled day is not being made up, so three day test it is.

Forecast is set fair, so there is a chance of a result still.

Gotta agree that it seems to be going a bit far with the wall to wall coverage at the expense of everything else. Yes, it is very newsworthy and a big deal that the monarch of 70 years has died, but I tend to agree with sussex that life shouldn't be shut down for a week as a result.

No other changes for England.

Five wickets in the first hour. Maybe three days will be enough.
