Was slightly surprised to see Potts is set to bat at eight (more so than his selection as he has been in some wicket taking form , and Overton really didn't look too menacing in West Indies ) He has made a fifty or two , I understand ; but he hasn't exactly been racking up the runs this season.

Guess it highlights the fact that this England team has a Very Long Tail !

Never mind. Have to hope the rather hopeful latest top three and experienced middle order can put something reasonable on the board. And then the two old boys can lead the way with the ball : I think we can extend Potts the courtesy of watching what he does before we start complaining about his bowling , no ? As BFL says , there are plenty of other options currently in the recovery ward...

I have the feeling that NZ have plateaued a bit in Tests, but England are so weak that I doubt they will challenge.

Maybe mixed feeling for Brandon, up against his old team mates.

I see Moeen got an empire medal.

Wagner not playing. Usually worth a pick just in case the pitch gets flat.

Probably have been tempted to ask England to prove they can bat. But as BFL said, the wiseman takes the bat first at Lords.

Anderson rips one through Latham..... no edge, but its good to Anderson back with ball in hand.

This is what England wanted.... Kane coming in with the ball 2 overs old and Anderson fresh.

Anderson's hardly been knocking them over for Lancs against county bats. Same with SB. Different bowlers in Tests.

Both openers out for the same score, same exact mode of dismissal (fielder/bowler). Wonder how many times that has happened?

NZ can't really afford more than three before lunch.

Taylor is a big loss for them.

We knew it was insane to drop them, here's the proof.

Jimmy hasn't conceded a run.
