293. Well batted Wyatt and Dunkley, and a good cameo from Ecclestone.

South Africa will need a record chase.

England take 3 early wickets too

I know that when it comes down to a one off winner takes all match anything can happen, but Australia not winning the world cup would be a massive shock. All those unbeaten games and not a hint of anything wobbly at any stage. No other winner, for me. First innings in the final should be a stroll in the park for Australia, no matter who they play, and the second a picnic in the sunshine with a bottle of bolly. No other result is possible

foregone conclusion

Certainly seems that way dfm.

South Africa 86/4 after 23, 7.5 an over needed and Ecclestone hasn't bowled yet. England's to lose at this point. Never say never, but they are in a great position.

Ecclestone on, wicket falls. What a tournament she's had.

200 off 25 with 5 wickets left - England have one foot in the final.

Ecclestone goes for a big lbw appeal on Tryon, gets her capt to review the not out decision to find that the ball only hit the middle of the bat, then after all the shenanigans gets her to nick off the very next ball.... I think that's called being mugged off

6 down

And now 7, as Ecclestone has 3 and SA's last batter, du Preez, is bowled. And it's all over bar the singing.

Ecclestone now has 17 wickets at 14 and an economy of 3.33 in the tournament. Bowler of the tournament without a doubt.

Kinda tempted to write the tournament post mortem now, given as DFM says the final is more or less a foregone conclusion.

Hats off to England though - to recover from the start they had and get to this position has been quite some turnaround. And it is almost a mirror - England failed to hold their catches in the group game and lost. Now South Africa dropped Wyatt five times and are paying for it.

And that's it. Comprehensive win, and Ecclestone has record figures for an England bowler in world cups.

Gotta say well done. After their first three losses I thought they were down and out, but they pulled it out of the fire and have been getting better and better every game. Australia are still red hot favourites, but England deserve to be opposite them for the final.

And of course, you never know. India were cruising to victory 5 years ago before Shrubsole produced one of the all-time great ODI spells.

Well done England on making the final after losing the opening 3 matches. Bloody well done.

We now have the final we probably expected, and then didn't. We get the final of the two best teams in the tournament though.

England will be cock-a-hoop, and the pressure will be on Australia. I think Aus will win, but they definitely are facing the team that's got the best chance of beating them.

Very much agree. After a generally exciting bunch of games , the two semis proved rather one sided in the end. Perhaps not a shock as the best teams tend to produce in the key games - and these are surely that. Australia have been brilliant throughout ; and England after a wretched start have powered in with some serious momentum.

Australia favourites , surely. But perhaps worth noting England actually fell just 12 runs short against them in the round game : and I think it is fair to say they are playing a lot better now. Might yet see a good contest.

If Haynes doesn't score a century, Healy will. If the openers perish early, Lanning will score a century, and if she doesn't Gardner will and that's before they get to Mooney and Perry.

Are England's bowlers better than Australia's batters? No! England have absolutely no chance whatsoever. Only Australia can win. Got a house? bet it all... not got a house? borrow one for a day and bet it all

On Super Sophie.....

her 20 tournament wickets is considerably better than anyone else over the comp. I think second best has 11

if they were allowed to bowl her from both ends for 50 overs, then England might have a chance of winning

apart from that.... 2 hopes..... No hope and Bob Hope
