Aother aerial flick, another one bounces just before the fielder....followed by another airy play and miss.

190/9 now. Way closer to 200 than I'd dared to dream an hour or so ago...

They're still batting

Jack Leach the top scorer for England for the second time in his career.

Shades of Ashton Agar at Trent Bridge.

Does go to show how badly the top order did. But yes, West Indies must accept some criticism for the way they have bowled and fielded to these two.

I'm trying to work out if there is any way to get statsguru to display the highest 10th wicket partnerships where the batters were numbers 10 and 11. This has got to be up there. Most of the big ones in history were between a number 11 and a recognised batter.

The highest I can find is 124 between John Bracewell and Stephen Boock for NZ v Australia in 1985

Leach edges, inches in front of slip. I have honestly never seen luck like this before on a cricket field... follows it up by chasing a wide one and the ball burns the edge on the way through.... oi oi oi .....

What do Windies need to do

This is a total freak event to be fair. Mahmood last over missed two that were an inch away from both the edge and his off stump, he then played a bizarre shot leaning back that smoked to the boundary, he then played a flat footed horror drive that missed his edge by mm....

And its been that for about 2 hours.

Just as I post that Mahmood plays a horrendous mow... same result. Misses the edge....

To be fair, even a partnership like this has turned England's position from utterly terrible to merely poor.

They're going to have to bowl well to get something out of this game still.

One of the great things about Test Cricket is that you get these extraordinary occasions where players who are basically rabbits somehow manage to achieve what the proper batsmen cannot...

Oh...just when it appeared these two were batting on tomorrow , Mahmood gets a bit too feisty after reaching 49 with a fine boundary and plays on to the ante penultimate delivery of the day :(

Rats : I was hoping to see them both to fifties ! But they've added a precious 90 to the score and we will see what they can do with their day jobs tomorrow...

Maybe I am being too harsh, but that was like watching someone turn up to the Masters playing like Happy Gilmore, and the slices and hooks hitting trees or tv towers and bouncing in the hole.

Sorry, Mahmood that is. Leach got behind the ball and just milked that little dab behind square on the off side.... but all Mahmood did was try to block, the ball thundered past his edge, so he got bored of blocking and just kept mowing at the ball and getting lucky.

Stokes gets Braithwaite, so plumb the Windies captain walks before the umpire puts his finger up.

That ball kept very low.
