A weakened Pakistan in the first test.

The theory at present seems to be win toss and bat long.....

Just goes to show it ain't so easy when you're bowling on a flat deck to batsmen who aren't England, 90mph or not.

Going to be an old fashioned draw.

The delay to play starting this morning, coupled with early finishes looking like the norm, are helping out a lot here.

I am pleased that Aus don't look like collapsing under the weight of almost 500 runs on the scoreboard.

People are whinging about the pitch, and say that Pakistan should be fined. I think they should be allowed a bit of slack here. They don't get very many home tests, this one has been sold out (including Day Five) for some time. Thye need to make sure that 1. they don't get rolled in their first home game to Aus in 24 years, and 2. the test will last the distance so they don't need to give refunds.

Cutting some slack is all very well, but six wickets in three days at 125 runs ago is pretty damn poor however you cut it. Trent Bridge 2014 was rated a poor pitch when 19 wickets had gone down in 3 days at an average of around 50...

Also, bad light seems to be very common in this part of the world - surely it's quite predictable? Why don't they start play earlier, use the floodlights or both? Anyone remember Karachi 2000?

I've heard suggestions that Pakistan Tests should be played over 6 days, five hours a day.

This is beyond ridiculous. Geoff Boycott's granny would make a hundred here.

If this isn't a fine for a poor pitch, what is?

Pakistan have lost four wickets in 240 overs!

Still... new ball due.

14 wickets is 5 days, batting average of 88 and bowling strike rate of 175 is up there with the flattest of flat pitches in history.

England would still have failed to make 400.

I dont think i can watch anymore of this series.

The negative bowling line from Pakistan on the first day is beyond a joke. everything seems about 1 foot outside leg stump. Just killing the spectacle of test cricket. Umpires have had enough and are calling wides now. Farcical.

Hopefully when the new ball comes they might pitch it somewhere on the stumps.

This match starting where the last left off. Sigh. Maybe this wicket will break up a bit, we can hope.
