Seeming as I'm isolating this Christmas I was pleased to see that there is some cricket on the big day namely in this competition.

We have had one round of fixtures that have seen Pakistan and India both win in Group A with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka running out winners in Group B.

Bangladesh have looked the most impressive in their victory over Nepal. Prantik Nawrose Nabil got 127* off 112 balls to 297 - the second highest team score of the tournament so far. Nepal held out with a strong lower order fightback but left too much needed.

Sri Lanka's Dunith Wellalage caught the eye with figures of 1.3-0-2-4 as his team slaughtered Kuwait and ran out winners by 274 runs.

Pakistan beat India by 2 runs today in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2021 group stage. It was a tight run thing with 7 needed off Pakistan’s last over but they pulled it off. Player of the match award goes to Zeeshan Zameer who got figures of 5-60, limiting India to 237.

Bangladesh continued their strong start to the competition with a mauling of Kuwait. A century from opener Mahfijul Islam took the Tigers to 291. Kuwait only managed 64 in reply.
Afghanistan trounced the UAE in the other game of the day.

Despite their loss, India’s Harnoor Singh is now the tournament’s highest run scorer thanks to 120 against the UAE yesterday and 46 today. Afghanistan’s Bilal Sami has the most wickets with 5.

These tournaments are always great - good to see the youngsters coming through - is this televised?

The U19 WC is coming up soon so I guess this is almost a trial run for the kids for that

India were given a run for their money by Afghanistan today. For vast swathes of the game it looked like Afghanistan were well in control with Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai marshalling their batting with 86 from 68. They went on to get regular wickets...but despite all this India outmuscled them.

Pakistan beat the UAE in the other game in the group to finish top and qualify for the knock out rounds alongside India.

In group B Bangladesh play Sri Lanka tomorrow with both guranteed a place in the Semi-final.

India's Harnoor Singh got a score of 65 today to continue his dominion on the highest run scorer whilst Noor Ahmad has taken over his fellow countryman as the highest wicket taker. The young man now has 8.

Rain nearly got the better of both of them but India had the beating of Sri Lanka in a shortened final. Sri Lanka looked nowhere close to India in their first innings and when the heavens opened a part of them will have hoped they would never close again. When conditions improved the game was shortened to 32 overs a side and Sri Lanka would have been disappointed to get to just 106. Vicky Ostwal, whi has been great in the knock out stages, got 3-11. India raced to the total needing just 21 overs to claim the title.

Harnoor Singh only got 5 in the final but rounded off the tournament as leading run scorer with 261 runs.

Despite only playing three games Zeeshan Zameer got 11 wickets for Pakistan making him the highest wicket taker.
