They've left a lot for Woakes and Wood to do.

There'll be a partnership now. Usually is somewhere after a collapse.

I presume this is twilight in play.

A collapse fitting of Englands batting this series.

Boland must think this test cricket game is pretty easy

All over. Boland's record in this series looks like he's been bowling on C19th pitches like he's the ghost of Fred Spofforth.

Was there some guy called Jay who took 5 wickets in an innings recently? Another called Josh who seems to have vanished? I think its fair to say the Aussie bowlers enjoyed this series.

But who plays in Pakistan?

In fairness to England, the chances of all the ten kookaburras that they faced in this series still zipping around and not going completely flat after 20 overs must be pretty remote, especially given that the balls England bowled with died very quickly. Terrible luck when you think about it

I wonder how big the crowds will be at Heathrow in a few days time?

not 100% sure where you are heading with this, Durham, but surely you are not suggesting favourable ball supply to Australia?
Maybe

no I'm not.... absolutely not

I was merely trying to show how hopelessly inept this England team's batting is and how very mediocre their bowling has been by highlighting the kind of stupid things they invent to pretend to themselves that it was probably all down to a bit of bad luck at key moments. Perhaps not in this series but in every other series they've done poorly in over the last 5 or 6 years

I have ended almost every test match that England played over the past 5 years, with 'just a bit of bad luck at key moments'

It's been hugely important for England and the ECB that they don't blame the system or anything hard like that.... better if it's just a bit of bad luck. That way nothing has to change and very well paid people can pick up their performance related bonuses with a clear conscience.
