Bangladesh tour of Zimbabwe

Shakib Al Hasan took a break from being obnoxious to play some decent cricket against a Zimbabwe Select XI which had over half of the players you'd expect to see in the Tests.

The Bangladeshis have piled on 313 for the loss of just two wickets in a two day practice match. With the Zimbabweans expecting to bat tomorrow, Shakib played in ODI mode on his way to 74 off 56.

It really is a shame that dubious clandestine chats with bookies and temper tantrums have ruined Shakib Al Hasan for me as a cricketer.

After his display with the bat yesterday he was the main threat with the ball today as he got 3-34 in 12.5 overs to get the Zimbabwe Select XI all out for 202.

The Bangladeshis had another little bat at the end of the day and ended on 22-0.

The Test match starts on Wednesday.

Always strikes me as a guy who's a tad overhyped anyway. Plays most of his cricket at home, hardly toured against top teams (And has a poor record I think vs everyone except NZ), his OD strike rate when ZImbabwe are removed from the equation was slow in the the 1990s, and he averages 40 odd a wicket.

I think if he'd had to play in England, India and Australia more his averages would plummet. And a lot of teams used to throw B teams or C teams at BD all the time, his record for instance against West Indies who have at least twice in memory had their contracted players refuse to play BD, is very good.

The fourth ODI century for Liton Das kept Bangladesh's innings alive as they made 276 despite regular fwll of wickets at the other end. He battled hard for his runs...which was something no Zimbabwean batter could day as they were all out for 121.

Much closer in the second ODI, Bangladesh winning by three wickets in the final over with 96 not out from Shakib.
