Rain. Pakistan would have taken this at the start of play. Time to reap their rewards before the second new all.

All Pakistan since lunch. England not bowling well in that session at all.

Though Bess should have had the break. Never that easy standing up , but I think Buttler should have taken that.

Rain might do the home team a favour. Chance to reset. Will need to because Babar looks capable of taking them apart.

How's Santiago bowling? He looked off the mark in his 2 tests against the WIndies. 5 wickets @ 30. Much worse than Broad, Woakes and Stokes

Good spell with the new ball...beat the bats a few times, looked dangerous. But very poor in his three overs after lunch. Seemed rather out of sorts - even bowled a no ball !

Wouldn't say he was poor against West Indies though. Not a lot of wickets but his pressure and economy were fine and likely helped the overall attack. He may be winding down ; but I'd not be writing him off just yet. Only a couple of games ago he took five in SA...

Back on. Sounds like Buttler has missed a couple today.

Off for bad light now. I presume that's it for the day.

Oh dear.... just watched the highlights

Jos Buttler :horse

A bit embarrassing actually..... a dropped catch and a missed stumping with the player halfway down the pitch. Bread and butter stuff. Poor old Dom Bess. The right hander is flogging him all over the ground, but the left hander, who can't play him at all, gets 2 extra lives. No justice!

When did this start? The ODI series only just finished. Non stop cricket.

Maybe this is a glimpse into the future. How we'll get more international cricket into limited available time.

Though if Buttler is going to play one format, why is it Tests. He's England's best ever limited overs bat.

Watching the highlights. Supposed to be a very dry pitch, so might be a good toss for Pakistan. England need to bat big in their first innings, if they can.
