Personally I think Burns main problem is that trigger movement, and its something that has crept into his game over time. When he was younger he used to be far more static and balanced in his back lift, but much like Eoin Morgan who developed the exact same problem a few years back, he is starting to almost bounce in the crease before the ball comes to him. The bat comes back, and he pushes his weight downwards and springs back up... for a player with an eyesight problem I cant imagine that head movement is very helpful, but more than anything, its almost like his body wants to come forward all the time. To over pitched stuff he pounces on it quickly, but shorter stuff and back of a length balls, just always get a feeling hes vulnerable and fighting his weight balance.

Hes a real quality player, Pope. I think hes going to go on to be a really important batter for England moving forward. Just needs to work on his initial concentration, hes a bit susceptible early on, but once he gets in he has test match quality written all over him

I'm beginning to think that the whole reason behind the selection of Buttler is to take advantage of his undoubted ODI batting skills, his 360o scoring arc and attacking mindset to blow oppositions away once the England batsmen have got themselves to 300-5

the trouble is England haven't looked likely to get anywhere near those sorts of starts for some considerable time.

I think I read somewhere that England have lost the first test of their last 6 series, which suggests to me that whoever is supposed to be preparing them for a new series and new challenges isn't doing a very good job. This will be yet another 3 test series that England have to spend fighting to get themselves back into because they are far too dozy in the first half of the first test
