All kicking off in the morning with Aus v Ind ... could that also be the final?

Women's cricket looking stronger now with most teams having some very good players ... starting to make fantasy selection tricky!

Apparently they are hoping to get 90,000 fans in for the final, which would be huge for the women's game

Lively start...

India rattled up forty off the first four overs but pegged back now by three wickets. The third one was one of the luckiest stumpings I've seen for a while...Healy missed the ball with Kaur miles down the pitch but it rebounded from her pads onto the stumps : she will take it :)

Jonassen has bowled well . Perry not so much : wicket off a long hop but hasn't really been "on" yet. Pitch seems a bit slow . India will struggle to set a target now , you'd think , with the loss of their forms bats early.

Well I got that wrong :)

India's spinners strangled Australia who didn't get too close to the seemingly modest target of 133 , despite Alyssa Healy's timely return to form with a fluent fifty.
Yadav spun a terrific web with 4/15 :clap And the Indian keeper was excellent .

Makes this pool very interesting.

And kicking myself for not picking Yadav in my fantasy team :facepalm

I was same as you - I thought Ind had blown it when the top order went

Suddenly the runaway favourites face the prospect of having to beat NZ and then perhaps having to hope that NZ don't beat India, in order to make the semi's.

That's the sort of thing that usually happens to England

It might spur them on, of course, but Australia have now lost 3 of their last 6 matches, which is very un-Aussie like. Perry has been out of nick ever since her injury in the WBBL, which must be hugely concerning for them.

Absolutely.

South Africa might not appear to be title contenders, but they do have players who on their day can hurt you

West indies looked shaky in beating Thailand.

NZ no certainties to beat Sri Lanka either at 63/2 chasing 130 OK they will probably get them but with Bates coming out just when she and Devine were getting going it isn't altogether straightforward.

Sri Lanka carved up England in the warm up game too. A few teams looking a bit more competitive these days.

England struggling early on against SA...

Amy Jones went off like a rocket but the quick loss of her and Wyatt has put the brakes on sharply. 40/2 in the eighth and in need of a partnership. Still not sure this plan of batting Beaumont down the order is the right one.

Just got worse for England as skipper Knight holes out cheaply...

45/3 off nine and deep in trouble now. They can bat deep but this isn't looking good : and after that warm up loss to Sri Lanka I'd almost say England are unlikely to threaten the other top sides in this tournament ... Though that might be a bit of premature judgement. We will see.

Nat Sciver singlehandedly got them to 109/5 with two overs left...fine fifty. :thumb

But gone now... Going to be scratching to defend this total. Need some late boundaries...

as expected/predicted, England making a right horlicks of their opener. 119/7 with 4 balls to go
