Only Morgan playing out of a likely first choice T20 side... and England lose again.

I suppose someone might emerge, but is it really warm up for the WC if only one of them goes to the WC.

England cruising to a series leveling win today...

Malan a century , Parkinson wrecking the NZ innings...89/6 chasing 242.

Haven't seen all of these matches but from what I have seen those two are the ones to put their hands up for future reckoning. We knew Malan could bat but he's done very well here ; and I've been quite impressed with Parkinson from his limited opportunities so far. Has three today...and should be four but Brown has just dropped a sitter !

Brown owes Parkinson a beer or two ...just messed up another one and its gone for four too...as Southee has rather made a dent in his figures with a few sixes .

Parkinson gets his man in the end anyway trapping him lbw. Finished with 4/47 : but he should have had something like 5/35 but for several misfields and a failure to review an earlier clear lbw. A fine spell of bowling and hope to see a lot more of him...not afraid to toss it up to aggressive batsmen :thumb

143/7 in the fourteenth.

Or Malan? I guess he won't replace Roy or JB1.

Is this a different Malan to the test version?

England win another superover and take the series. Chris Jordan winning the game.

Wonder how that series has influenced a future England side for the WCT20? I guess Malan has gained the most. And a good series for Chris Jordan too. The new bowlers (Brown, Parkinson and Mahmood) were expensive.

Hales or Roy
Bairstow
Malan
Buttler
Morgan
Stokes
Dawson
Jordan
Rashid
Archer
Wood

Root/S.Curran/T.Curran/Willey/Billings/Vince/Moeen in the frame too. I think Plunkett has been shunned.

Actually a pretty impressive win for England in the end (OK , an eleven over thrash , but still) I did like the fact that they didn't panic when it really looked hopeless - when Morgan got out they needed about 100 off seven with only Jonny and Billings plus the bowlers thanks to the short batting list they have used . But Sam C and YJB took 42 off the next two overs to get them back in the game and Jordan secured the super over with an excellent three ball innings of 12 :)

Of course they were always going to win the super over...

They weren't too bothered about the results I think as they rested Malan for this decider , and also young Parkinson - who I reckon bowled rather well the other day. Sure he conceded a few but on very small grounds wickets are gold dust...I think he might have a future.

the match report mentions the ludicrously short boundaries. Does it do T20 cricket a disservice when edges routinely fly away for six or is it only the die hard cricket goers who are bothered?

still.... England did well to hold their nerve again. I've always believed these things are habit-forming, so it bodes well for the future

This mahmood looks to have a pretty dodgy action to me

Looks a considerable straightening of the elbow to the naked eye

Blimey, another super over, another England win.

The Kiwis must be sick of the sight of England in 2019.

Malan is now at number 3 in the rankings. Don't think Morgan can leave him out. Average of 57.25 and a strike rate of 156.31. That number 3 position which was Root's. Maybe Root can fit in at number 5. Twice batted there average 125.00 s/r 171.73. Root would need to bowl more.

Absolutely no chance Root will play at 5. I'd be surprised if he even makes the squad.

Surely Bairstow will open and that will push Gentle Ben down to six.
