Of course, he should be in the team on merit. Just wondering with the baby he might not want to be out there. And by taking Cook and Anderson out, I'm giving a younger team a chance to create a new dynamic for a dispiriting game. But it's probably crazy talk.

Third highest I think, and about fifth in the averages?

Without Cook this team in India would have perforned much badly imo.

He is the best touring batsman to have toured India. In this series too he has scored more than sone other batters. I wont drop him , Arthur .

I think Cook spoke vaguely about a post captaincy future. He didn't say when. I've read England want him to stay on until the Ashes.

this was what he said

"Deep down I don't know how much longer I am going to carry on," he said in an interview in the Cricketer magazine.

if he stayed for the Ashes would be a bad move and quite defensive from the hierarchy.
think England got a better chance of winning Away ashes with a new captain than with Cook in the reigns.

Can't argue with that. He's been superb in the past, though unconvincing on this tour. Would easily be in the best side for Chennai.

Well done to King Kohli. Must be the best knock against England this year.

Cook will not wish to give up the captaincy on a lost series so he'll stick around at least for the summer campaign and maybe the ashes. Of course he may be pushed, I'd be happy to give a hand.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

the fact we dont play tests again til july might be a factor

he's going to have a long break from cricket after this tour

SA should bring Smith back to take the scalp of another England captain. The Widowmaker.

In the summer there was a lot of talk about Anderson rarely getting injured but there are signs his body is beginning to show the wear and tear all fast bowlers eventually suffer, add to that Broad's injury problems and we could see the changing of the guard sooner than we might have expected a year ago.
