If Shakib is in the mood, he could really do some damage to England.

221/5 at stumps.

BD could end up with a slight lead I reckon when they're innings is over.

Mehedi isn't a number 11, averages 40 in first class cricket and looked a very good batsman in the under 19 world cup.
Although the other 3 are crap.

actually surprised majority of the english press are liking the pitch, suppose they don't actually want to watch the dross the old pitches produced, think rob key basically said the old pitches use to sent him to sleep if he was watching the game.
Feel really nice people are starting to like the new pitches, still baffled to how Australia had issues with it in the last sri lanka series lol.

With all the talk of Test cricket dying doesn't actually make sense for people to be adamant that the ball can't turn or do anything in the first day of a test match in asia, considering without turn the bowlers got nothing going for them and highly doubt the pace men want to bowl 20 overs either and basically the only way of a wicket is reverse swing.

feels nice to see the english journo and the player accept the pitch and in general they like it.

I think BD are ahead after day two, even matching England's score will keep them ahead even though they must bat last. Their spin bowlers seem superior to ours and that gives them the edge.

No had a look at any of the action. Who has been the pick of the English spinners?

Not easy to answer yuppie, I suppose Moeen getting the two wickets but after that he hardly threatened. Rashid bowled some good stuff mixed with dross as per usual and Batty disappointed early on but bowled better in his last spell. I think the more experienced BD batsmen handled the spin with more comfort that our batsmen. Getting Rahim out just before the close was important as he looked in total control in much the way Root did yesterday.

I think BD need their tail to wag because this pitch will be like a beach by day 4. Already noticeable dusting, with Stokes final over of the day every ball hitting the pitch came with a visibly large puff of dust. If BD take a first innings deficit then they need to bowl England out for 150..... batting is going to get crazy

Bangladesh have a long tail and they need at least another 150 runs to be on parity given they'll have to bat last on this surface. England's game to lose really. Shakib would have to do something extraordinary to get BD a healthy enough lead.

is that nerves speaking shanky.
TBH not sure their tail that bad really considering Sabbir is a good batsman, still got Shakib and the new spinner is a frontline batsman and then the tail isn't that bad they could survive for a few over or more if needed, actually think most of the tail got 50s as well.
think only the last one are duds.

Batty maybe a little rusty to start with. Big ask to get back into the English test team, be asked to open and act as the main spinner.

I really hope Rashid comes good, but he needs to limit his bad balls.

You are forgetting england will probably collapse and be all out for less than a hundred in the second innings

England should have enough Test match know-how to win this. BD are very inexperienced. England can make pressure count in the fourth innings on a deteriorating pitch..

If BD do win (big if) it would sort of be a debut win for them. Otherwise only beaten Zimbabwe and WI B side. It would be a significant humiliation for England, even allowing for BD's improvement. If they do win, hope a few supporters make it into the ground to see it. But I can't see England losing.
