Cricinfo has Jeetan coming in for Craig, and Nicholls standing by for an ill Kane Williamson. Still no Southee.

And they have Yadav challenging Mo'hit for a spot. Shikhar in for KLR.

Always nice to follow the Eden Gardens Test, the legendary venue.

India 3 down in 24 overs.

Kohlis 7 test innings in 2016 have returned 287 runs, though 200 of them came from one innings.

Interesting read on Cricinfo regarding the toss in the sub continent. The home team has won the toss 13 times in a row, or is it 14 times now with India winning the toss in this test.

Is this some sort of record?

Wow - that is some record. At one stage Dhoni had an appalling record and seemed to always lose the toss.

looks like a batting deck, NZ are dead with williamson out and their best spinner out.
India could rack up a huge score here but they batting so awful at home conditions so maybe not.

Ashwin and Jadeja will have to be special to take 20 wickets since if the grass is in the wicket the pitch won't crumble to at least day 4 or 5.
