yeah, also he does well in ODI's where he averages over 40, whereas in tests I think he averages less than 30. Mishra probably averages over 20 with the bat in tests

Ronchi and Satnar have put up some fight for NZ, but it looks like an easy win coming up for India.

Big win for India. NZ gave them too many runs in both innings. At least they will be acclimatised better.

100 runs and five wickets makes for a useful game for Mitch Santner.

Very well deserved

Patel only isn't playing for New Zealand because he turned them down a season or two ago because it clashed with his commitments at the Bears.

There's a lot of similarties between Vettori and Santner... IMO they are both equally inconsistent with the bat, yet you would say both are/were capable of batting in top 7...Santner looks to be adjusting finally with the bat to test cricket, played really well in this first test, and looked at home against spin bowling, showing a solid defensive technique.... With the ball, both are similar too..neither particuarly attacking/threatning on first glance..however Vettori always did batsmen with flight rather than turn, whilst Santer seems like he is happy picking up wickets with 'darts'...neither turn/turned the ball much ,but seem to do just enough...it's early days with Santer but if he can be even half as effective as Vettori was, then NZ will be more than happy...

Dan was a really good orthodox spinner at the start of his career. And an ODI great by the end. Injury seemed to blunt him as a Test player, but fortunately he got in as a batter by then. There seems to be a good case for Santner being picked for both disciplines at the moment, and probably will enable the Kiwis to pick four seamers outside of Asia. Doubt he'll be as good a spinner as Vettori in his early days though

India have picked Gambhir to replace Rahul, and an off spinner, Jayant Yadav, as yet uncapped, to replace the injured Ishant.
I always say that everybody's right.
