You might reasonably believe that taking 3 bowling wickets and a run out might be ahead of 89 runs at SR 82.

Unless he has been afflicted with blindness then I think that rule is moot.

Root averaging 71 at a SR of 90 this year, with two hundreds and has passed fifty seven times in nine dismissals. Of batters to pass 200 runs, only Rohit and Kohli average more.

Hales is next best this year (average 60) worth bearing in mind for when the calls for him to be dropped begin. Well done to Morgs on the his first international fifty for a long time.

In truth I think he's safe in the fifty over caper but will want to score runs in Bangla and India as far as the Tests go. He seems to have lost a bit of confidence lately ; perhaps as a result of coming out to some very good deliveries in the Tests against Pakistan. Feel he only needs to get set in one of these matches and we might see him back playing with freedom again...hope so as an in-form Hales is a definite asset at the top of the order.

It's likely that the tribulations Hales has in tests has affected his batting no matter which format he's playing.
