Was a little noise and a mark on hotspot

The noise was his feet and the mark was there before. The umpire even said it himself. I seriously question the thought processes of some people.

The mark wasn't there before

He said he thought it might have been there before but on a second look realised it wasn't

There was an obvious spike on snicko in between the background noise which could only have been one thing

I must have problematical eyesight, because the mark was there before and after, clear as day.

I could only pick up the noise of his feet, nothing off the glove. Fact is you can't hear much off the glove.

Snicko was the only possible pointer towards him hitting it, nothing else, so he may well have hit it.

I thought you had to be 100% certain to overturn the onfield umpire, which he clearly wasn't because he took about 10 minutes to make up his bloody mind.

It wasn't

as the ball went past the glove it made a clear mark

In the end he decided the mark on hotspot was clear evidence

Just seen us getting to 500 now. Possibly a declaration an hour after tea I reckon.

We aren't going to enforce the follow on as we won't want to bat last so may as well declare at tea then get bowling

15 minutes before the skip is sending a message to the batters?

Either that or someone does genuinely want a change of gloves.

Bairstow doesn't seem concerned about a declaration

2 off his last 17 balls

Watch it again

The ball leaves a clear mark that wasn't there before

There was something very faint before but a bright mark appears as the ball flicks the glove

These two are just having a net

Do we want to win this game or not

I think Cook wanted them to stay in till tea. Reckon the fireworks will start straight after.

Haven't watched much of this test but pitch doesn't look easy to score quickly on. Bairstow really struggling up to tea, admittedly with a lot of bowling outside his leg stump.

Hussain totally agreeing with my assessment of the Stokes dismissal almost word for word.

Have to say I agree with budget. Absolutely not evidence to overturn the not out call - third umpire somehow talked himself into it ; but I thought his initial assessment was correct re hotspot.
Stokes was clearly sure he hadn't hit it (and you'd imagine you'd feel a touch on the glove in that situation) - and it really didn't look like a touch either at speed or in slowmo...shocking decision in my book.
Not that it matters much as England are set for plenty anyway. But the sort of call that puts a lot of people off drs.

As you say alfie, doesn't matter a jot the way the innings is progressing.
