Which is quite remarkable really since they moved a lesser batsman up the order and then when stokes comes back he goes back to number 8.

6. Bairstow
7. Ali
8. Woakes

Makes sense.

That seems the best order, but it might be harder to slot Stokes back at six if they do well in those positions.

I presume Woakes will drop out once Stokes returns?

But Bairstow and Moeen will have to slide down again, which may not seem reasonable if they bat well in their higher positions- especially Bairstow who is playing well already.

Looking at the weather forecast it seems rain might play a role? Could it be enough for SL to possibly get a draw? Hows it looking for those that live in the area?

The solution is simple when Stokes returns...

Latest forecast I saw suggested possible rain on Monday and Tuesday - game might well be finished by then though!
It's rained in Chester-le-street since early last night, mainly drizzle for the last few hours.

The chances are the game will be over before the rain arrives.

Probably. 3 days will be more than enough unless SL perform considerably better then they did last week.

Even if they do and they get the full 90 overs in each day for the first three days, that will be 130 overs more than the first test

Sl only managed to bat a total of 72 overs in the first test.

Oh dear. I didn't realise they faced so few overs!

You're right. Alistair Cook says Woakes will play tomorrow and bat at 8.
