Not too far away now. The English summer - and I use the word lightly - is soon upon us.

Sri Lanka squad

Angelo Mathews (captain), Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Dhammika Prasad, Dilruwan Perera, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal (vice-captain), Dushmantha Chameera, Kaushal Silva, Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Thirimanne, Milinda Siriwardana, Niroshan Dickwella, Nuwan Pradeep, Rangana Herath, Shaminda Eranga, Suranga Lakmal.

I doubt anyone will call SL mediocre, but England should be winning this 3-0, rain permitting.

At the moment they'd be hard pushed to call these matches warm-ups.

Stories have turned up here and there suggesting Compton and Hales' positions are under threat- Cook said the same after the SA tour. Hales has missed the start of the season. Now Taylor has gone, one change is inevitable, and more feels likely, with Bell, Vince and Ballance heading the queue. With an injury to Wood, and Woakes a bit disappointing over the winter, maybe another pace bowler will be named to shadow Finn, Stokes, Anderson and Broad. Maybe Footitt will wear the bib for a while. As ever, an alternative to Moeen will be sought.

And the first two Tests are to be played in the far north.

The Durham match won't start.

Umpires seem reluctant to get any play going there at the moment.

Points system has been agreed. Looks like 3 points for a Test win and 2 points for ODIs and 20/20s. How does a 20/20 that lasts 3 hours is worth 2 points and a Test 3 points? :angry

Hopefully it'll be ignored.

SL and Pakistan agreed to it. So maybe some teams won't agree with it. Though they could easily ignore the whole thing while agreeing to it.

The article I read said four points for a win.

We'll soon drop it when we find out we win test series but lose the other games so that we end up with an overall defeat in the points.

ECB - Bad ideas imperfectly executed.

Ach. For a Test win.
