They share the same problem, their footwork is krap. No lateral movement and rely on hand-eye coordination and bowlers bowling wicket to wicket.

It's not long ago that the media and many lovers of one day cricket were screaming for him to get in the England ODI team, he's rewarded his supporters with a 25 ODI average from 24 games.

Same could be said of Sehwag and Trescothick and they did OK.

You could add a lot of names to that list, Brendan McMullan and David Warner for two. Some are just better at it than others. Being 6' 5" might be part of his problem.

Poor day for England with the bat, even with Stokes coming in at ten.
I always say that everybody's right.

One would imagine that the plan was to bat until lunch so the batters were playing their shots. Not very well though.

From my time in Jamaica, only certain types of lightning stopped play...just the lightning that was accompanied by thunder. Lightning without thunder was seen as not dangerous.

We would count the seconds between lightning and thunder to see how far away it was. Once the gap between lightning and thunder narrowed, that meant it was approaching, but if the gap was larger, it was going away. Play would only be called off if the gap narrowed....

Is that how you did it in South Africa?

This storm must be something special to last this long.

It is-just seen shots of it on Sky. Can't imagine either players or groundstaff are keen on a resumption.

Yep! Golf was a different kettle of fish...that said, only tourists played golf in the Caribbean.

And Tresco 43.79. Hales is more Mal Loye than either of those two.

Yep, Marcus Trescothick liked to play his shots and did alright for England. Hales just needs to be encouraged to play a natural game because there very few cricketers who can time the ball as well as he does.

Looking at how Hales got out 2nd innings on a TMS video, there was little he could do with a delivery that swung in and got plenty of lift short of a length. Only thing that stood out is how deep Hales was in his crease prior to delivery. Maybe if Hales was further forward, he has the option of rocking back and ducking.

Not a good warm up game for england.
they probably need to improve loads to have a chance to win a game here.

I really don't see what we learn from this....putting Taylor in to bat at 11 doesn't help anyone.
