Poor shot from Marsh, following a wide ball, playing a defensive shot.

Siddle time.

Hmmm. A shame that a tight test will be remembered for that decision. To be honest, though, the Kiwis had their chances and didn't take them. Too many batsmen threw their wickets away (they so often try to take Lyon on, and it doesn't work out), and they didn't hold all the chances they had in the Australian second innings. They could have had this, but they lacked the killer instinct to finish the game off when Australia were vulnerable. The worst decision was sending Craig in to bowl against a guy who couldn't run and was therefore looking to hit boundaries or get out. Madness. Should have just sent in Boult and Bracewell and fired down yorker after yorker.

Amazing catch from BJW.

Starc limping out.

Not sure why Starc has come out.

No. He's a better bat than Hazlewood or Lyon, but he can't run, so they can't get the winning runs in singles. And it's not as if the other two can't hold a bat. Odd.

Well done the Aussies on a deserved series win. Maybe this Test showed what the series could have been if the Kiwis had better prep.

Looking back over the scorecard my previous concern that the Aussie tail may be exposed by the fact that the openers had been previously so strong seems to have been emphatically disproved.

Indeed.

The kiwis were rightly expected to give Aus a tough series, if not even give them a beating. A proper warm up would have allowed for that opportunity.

not sure Kiwis would have won the series even with better prep.
considering Kiwi bowling attack is not exactly suited for the conditions and without Boult/Southee in top form the rest of the attack look crap.

Really hard to see Kiwis winning in Australian conditions unless they play at a green deck or hobart type conditions.

Currently Southee/Boult need swing to be effective both haven't found ways to get wickets when Swing or seam is not present.
Boult in particular needs to learn how to be effective without Swing or Seam.

Or this test showed that NZ could get close if Aus were one bowler down. NZ had already decided to leave their last aborted 4 day game a day early because they said they had enough preparation. Preparation wasn't going to get Boult and Southee bowling faster at the Gabba or WACCA.

They will be a handful in their home conditions where the a\ball moves about a bit more.

boult bowls very full, too full when the ball isnt moving

warner was driving him for fun on the flat wickets
