Astoundingly, with over 1100 runs scored we're still only just into day 4. Plenty of time for either side to take victory here. It's probably a little harder for Australia as they won't necessarily have time to bat to a comfortable score and declare, but they could easily have a lead of 350 by the end of the day.

New Zealand need to make the running in this test. Aus CAN be satisfied with a draw - as this will retain the Chappell/Hadlee Trophy - the Aus team's ego may well be their most dangerous enemy.

I know it's happened before, but there can't be to many instances of two men passing 250 in the same test?

Taylor draws level with the great Lara.

Taylor has the highest score by a New Zealander overseas.

I have four previous occasions where two players passed 250 in the same match:

Johnson is getting absolutely slaughtered here. His worst economy ever in a test match innings. He has a wicket, so it's not his worst ever analysis, but it's right up there.

I think I am about 60% wanting him to do it.

Right, he has past Lara's score. He can get out now.

I was wondering yesterday of a part of him has mentally retired already.

Either way, I don't think a retirement is too far away.

bit of a bloody nose to Aus, this Kiwi score. 600 is a heck of a mark, even considering Aus' score.

So, a four will now give Taylor the Aus record. No mean feat, imo. 112 year old record.

Yep, he seems to have stopped scoring. Handy little cameos from Boult and Southee, though.

He's getting it in singles. Now has equalled the record score by any foreigner in Australia. :clap

Will he go off when (if) he gets it?

It doesn't matter to the record books just how flat the pitch is. Well done Ross Taylor. :clap
