Finally Kiwis have managed to give a relatively better reply to Aussies in this innings. Still Aussies remain favorites to win this.

Damn, that Williamson is good. Partnership is 160 and going strong. Cruising towards the first target, which is 360 to avoid the follow-on (not that Australia would be likely to enforce it anyway). Superb effort so far from the Kiwis in response to the mauling they got on day 1.

The commentators are pointing out that in the last 6 test matches in Australia, the first innings score has been over 500 every single time. There have admittedly been 3 results and 2 draws, with one still in play, but it's getting a bit worrying.

250 partnership up. Imagine if the Kiwi's are close to the Aussie score tonight, with say five wickets left. Could give us a unexpected result. Big IF though.

The way these two are batting, anything's possible. 90 runs in the last hour, and Australia's bowlers look bereft of ideas.

One wicket is all it takes though, and everything can come crashing down.

Slightly under 100 (99.6 I think) but he's now in the exclusive 160kph club. Lee, Tait, Thomson, Akhtar, Sami and now Starc.

McCullum looked a bit late on that delivery that bowled him.

Nice to see Taylor get some. He's a bit inconsistent, but still produces the goods just about often enough.

A bit of reverse swing from Mitches 2&3.

Taylor's averaging about 60 over the past two years, so probably not that inconsistent. Quite a lot of those v WI

Aussie have bowled well since I've been watching. A lot of effort to get that pace with so much against them

Fascinating match

Great day for the Unzudders. Great resolve, no small amount of skill shown, and huge amounts of guts and perseverence.

Probably NZ's best day of test cricket in Aus since Hadlee was playing.
