Dhoni cost India that game. He's just not good enough to pull it off at the end. Has to look for boundaries earlier instead of singles and twos.

Impressive composure from a youngster, that too a South African, at the death but brilliant? Not really. He didn't really get any yorkers in, dismissed Binny and a well past his best Dhoni with short deliveries that any decent batsman or a Dhoni in his prime would have demolished. He bowled smartly to make use of the opposition batsmen's limitations but in fairness, it wasn't an over that was unscoreable (if there is such a word!) off. Dhoni in his prime would've walked it. Ultimately, Dhoni's slow start to the innings cost BCCI in the end.

I have to agree - Dhoni has years of success and proved time and again hat he could time it perfectly even when it looked like he'd left it too late, but over recent times he has lost that ability.

This game was lost by Kohli and Dhoni scoring at 3 or 4 an over when the req run rate was more like 9 - it was only because Rohit started going at about 12-15 an over that we were keeping pace. Once Rohit went Dhoni started showing more urgency but by then it was always going to a difficult ask.

I think No.5 is the right position for him, ahead of Raina but with only 10 overs to go and MS not in touch, maybe Raina should've come ahead. Lack of flexibility has been one of MSD's biggest shortcomings as a captain in recent years. Today India gave Saffers a taste of their own medicine (choking) :)

Amazed by just how good Rohit Sharma has become. I predicted a breakthrough season for him earlier this year but he seems to be surpassing those expectations. Scary if he can start replicating this in Tests, which I think he will, in the subcontinent at least.

This was a very good match. Our batsmen played well after fielding for 50 overs in this climate. It was competitive with a minor margin of loss. No complaints from me. Well played everyone.
