I believe that the Saffer side is in decline, simply because they draw their team from minorities...white people only make up eight percent of the population, Asians another two percent, and coloureds another eight percent. When you consider that South Africa's population is 55 million, and cricketers only come from 20 percent of that, sooner or later the talent pool is going to die out, unless South Africa can find a way to sell cricket to the black majority....

Similarly, in England only seven percent of people go to private school, and yet their graduates make up half the cricket team. Until cricketers are taken from a talent pool that makes up the majority of the population, both South Africa and England will be under-achieving.

South Africa were lucky that they had a good group of talented minority cricketers. That won't last....

Half! Anderson and Moeen didn't, out of the regulars. I think before Moeen, Ravi was the last batter (including keepers) picked who didn't go to a fee paying school.
