Siddle has got the feeling of an outmoded design now Australia no longer need to eradicate the threat of Pietersen. Like having that attachment on your penknife to remove stones from a horseshoe. Since the short period when he carried their attack magnificently, he's been a bit of a blunt tool. I like him for some reason though, so I'd quite like him to have a good series.

Just read this from Vaughan;

"Former England captain Michael Vaughan claiming Harris would have been Australia's most threatening bowler in the up-coming series".

Difficult to bowl on one leg, not to mention virtually no match practice. He may well have only made the last test or two.

Harris should have never come back so soon and his rehabilitation under Australian cricket needs to be investigated.

Obviously not seen what the other quicks have done of late.

Siddle will bring control to the line up if needed. Playing in both warm up games means that he is still in Australias plans. But the 3 quick spots are taken, and unless injury or fatigue plays a part, Siddle won't get a game.

Five games since the last Ashes, nine wickets at 67. But if the cricket is attritional, as it could well be in this weather, then he could contribute.

I don't think so yuppie, i suspect he was included in the squad more in hope than expectation and that plan A was to expect the worst. Sad news for those who admired his bowling which was exceptional.
