Apart from Anderson's early spell , the batsmen have looked reasonably comfortable. A few things nearly happening for Stokes ; but I'm having trouble seeing a wicket coming here. Moeen not looking likely - perhaps the Root option might be worth a spin...

Have to say the odds on a draw are shortening.

So if England don't get a result here, how can they strengthen the batting further?

Also nice to see the WI batters going along at a nice run rate above 3 an over.

As in 2009, the West Indies pitches are absolutely shocking. No wonder people are being turned off test cricket when boards are prepared to put up with dross like this. Bar a collapse in the first test in 2009 we could be looking at a 6th tepid draw in a row.
Anything can happen with a round ball.

Coz we're going up, and we'll win the cup, for Sussex by the Sea!

Is it just me or is Test cricket generally dull nowadays? I think South Africa v Australia is the only series I've enjoyed in the last year.

i would be in favour of making tests four days and playing on pitches that offer the bowlers much more assistance, whether it be for the fast bowlers or the spinners

a game dominated by the ball is always much better than one dominated by the bat

Sky's sycophantism over Cook is becoming rather laughable, "You can't question the imagination of the England captain"?

Knight adds to the nonsense, praising Cook for his extra cover when Bravo was caught off an edge from a forward defense.

Are they on commision for the number of times they can try and convince us Cook is a half decent skipper?

No it's not just you, I'm sure that the number of test loving fans across the world are extremely, extremely, most extremely a minority. Doesn't help though when captains don't know when to declare.

England should have set themselves up to take the second new ball for maybe 5 overs before stumps today. There lies your problem. I don't recall seeing any commentators even rumour at the thought.

To finish the day with 75 overs bowled and to my knowledge no one has even considered that targeting 85 overs might have been a good idea is just flabbergasting, and has been more than enough to dig my way out of my hibernation. Geez it's still cold though.
