Don't forget it is nine commentating so they will go over the top with aussie players.
Marsh bowling isn't that great TBH he picked more on his batting than his bowling.

Jadeja and Patel should enjoy these conditions.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Bailey took the right decision to bat last considering this match is very likely to be D/L affected. Already reduced overs match. As we are playing two spinners the wet ball due to wet outfield will make things difficult for them to grip it and roll fingers over it to get turn. And our part time bowlers (Raina) is also spinner. Virat can bowl few overs though of medium pace.

kohli's bowling was something I was thinking about the other day and how little he has been used as a bowler recently

just checked and in the last year he has only bowled 12 overs in 21 games and he bowled 7 of them in one match

Even when Virat himself was captain he did not show much liking to bowl few overs. Dhoni has used him in some matches last year iirc. I think they have given up on that. No reports that he even bowls in nets as well.

is Ian Chapppel trolling. :hmmm Open with Rohit and Binny

"As Shikhar Dhawan continues to struggle under Australian conditions, perhaps the time is right to open the batting with Binny. He looks technically capable and this would give Dhoni another bowling option, which appears to be a priority. "

He is such a fan of pinch hitters. Tried it with Irfan when he was coach. Now he wants same strategy from the new coach. Also Ian had said that Unmukt Chand and Harmeet Singh should be playing in test series after the U-19 WC win. Such weird/hyper ideas all the time, thanks we got rid of him.

Yes my mistake. Greg was coach, and Ian said Harmeet and Unmukt should be in test team. Both have very weird ideas. Now this Binny as opener. :no

for this case it is more of Ian Chappell not knowing the indian team although I do like the idea of binny playing as a batsman but not has an opener though.
Rahane/Rohit should be the opening combination with Rayudu/Dhawan/Binny batting at 4.
India are really batsman short in the world cup squad.

At this point I would say binny probably the best option gives india deep batting and 6 bowling options.

Ajinkya and Rohit should open. One a 100+ or even 250+ run scorer on his day who can demolish any attack on his day and other who can play a supportive role wit couple of 50's. No Binny please.

Would not like the idea of Ashwin opening. From the squad of 30 i would have shortlisted only Rohit, Ajinkya and Murali as opening options. Yes its not wise to select ODI payers on basis of test match form and vice versa, but given the lack of big runs s well as very bad technique of Shikhar which is getting more exposed due to bad patch, i would have liked to see Murali in 15 probables instead of Shikhar. Ajinkya and Murali imo will score relatively more runs in ODI series than Shikhar over here.

Don't worry we are masters at this. If management decides Shikhar or any other player who is not needed, then he can get injured in nets or even slip in room and we get replacement.
