"Uncapped 21-year-old offspinner Tharindu Kaushal has been named in Sri Lanka's squad for the tour of New Zealand, while uncapped quick Dushmantha Chameera also earns a place. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal reclaims his place in the squad, but Niroshan Dickwella, who kept wicket in the last two Test series, and Prasanna Jayawardene, who has largely been Sri Lanka's first-choice keeper, are in the squad as well."

Angelo Mathews (capt), Kaushal Silva, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwella, Prasanna Jayawardena, Dinesh Chandimal, Dilruwan Perera, Tharindu Kaushal, Shaminda Eranga, Suranga Lakmal, Dhammika Prasad, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Pradeep, Rangana Herath

Going to be tough to choose between this series and the one in Melbourne (with Aus on dormie two). Glad to see NZ will lead with Tests, I think they had ODIs over the holiday season last year.

It's always diverting to listen to the NZ commentators explaining why the crown is so small at the game. Which is any reason at all, even a shop being open somewhere. If it's a holiday, the crowd is small because everyone's on holiday. If it's a work day, there's no one there for that reason.

Hopefully after the year they've had, there'll be a few in the ground to cheer them on.

Been listening to the BYC NZ fan podcasts on cricinfo recently. I really didn't realise how little the Kiwi's like the Aussies!

McCullum goes back into the middle order, and Rutherford opens again Could be an interesting first session, with a greenish pitch.

Come on Kiwis.

Vettori dropped, I suppose.

Shame we're no nearer getting a look at Milne and Henry.

Lovely looking ground, reminds me of how some of ours used to look. NZ 8th test venue, seems a lot for a small country.

Not great bowling for SL. Given they out bowled England in England.

I'm eight minutes behind, and just seen Lakmal bowl a jaffa. Makes it seem SL really wasted that first hour.

Loose from Hashim Rutherford though.

Amazing that this ground will house 18000 for the WC. That's the size of a typical English international stadium. Today it looks like a county outground.

just caught the tail end of that discussion they were having on comms , McCullum becomes the first NZ player to score 1000 runs in a calendar year

surprised by that , might have mis-heard them
