Not sure Harry Brook is doing himself any favours at the moment. In fact, I didn't know at the end whether or not Joe was trying to suggest Brooks should be fired, but the whole press conference was weird. Root seemingly said at one point that Brook's best redeeming feature as captain was the fact he is a joker and likes to make the squad laugh, and that he leads from the front with his humour.

Translated into normal sports speech, I guess that means Harry has no leadership qualities? And that was Root's underhanded point? England have become so accustomed to papering over their failures, they really do talk some nonsense now. Whatever next?
