Got to be the worst five wicket haul in Test history.

We've let them right off the hook.

Cook is now England's leading test run scorer of all time.

I'm sure it's happened before, but in all the years I've watched cricket I can't recall anyone raising their bat to a stats record. Most players come off the ground unaware or so they say. Now I find that hard to believe also.

Got to hand it to Cook though, as much as I've come to dislike his character in recent times he is making a lot of people shut up.

It's why this thread is so quiet. For some reason most people on here don't like him so when he is doing okay there are few comments.

That's a shame. I don't usually take any sports persons character into the equation when it comes to judging their ability so I should probably smack my hand on this one.

I did with Ricky Ponting though and likely for the same reason as Cook. They both seem to have control over selection based on personality traits or comradity.

That always gets under my skin as I faced that when playing in Oz at club level. I didn't drink beer when I was younger and barely drunk at all, and that didn't sit well with the rest of the team.

All said and done this Kiwi side are going to get hammered here.

Their 3rd place ranking in test is in danger and you've got to wonder how on earth they got there.

I'm not a great fan of Cook's personality but I'd take it over Pietersen's any day of the week.

This is good from England.

Weather still looks to be the winner fro the rest of the test.

It is, and I'm hoping Lyth can get a lengthy stay at the crease in preparation for the Ashes. Same applies to Ballance when he comes in next. I guess being at Headingley helps both of them.

Yeah Ballance is under some pressure at present. A good knock on his home ground will do him the world of good.

With so many Yorkshire and Durham players in the side it's a shame that none of the test matches in the Ashes series will be at Headingley or Chester-le-street.
