Yes Mark I believe he said "You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen, and you'll feel the beat from my tambourine".

That sounds more like something Jimmy Savile would have said.

Ha,ha yes and in a tutu.

He definitely asked him politely, you could tell by his screwed up face and from my vast experience with lip reading, and from recently watching "The Good. The Bad, And The Ugly" he clearly says. "hey old chap would it be terrible to ask you to please speak English, now there's a good sort then".

Yep that about sums us up Mark, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Sharma in.the same sentence as the other 2? The innings other day was the first time he had played an innings of substance in a Southern.Hemisphere country.

he is still only 27 and no reason to think he cant learn and improve as a player , a fact you seem to completely ignore at times with players you don't rate. the only country he has a terrible record in is SA , he averages 35 in Australia and 38 in NZ, and again no reason to think they wont improve, at 27 hes not even in his prime as a batsman tbh. I doubt anyone can seriously doubt his ability, the innings he played the other day against a pretty strong Australian bowling lineup was impressive. some people just take longer to develop and live up to their potential, I would give the guy a break if I was you and enjoy what he can do, I would love to have someone of his ability in our side.

I don't remember you saying the same about Bopara a few years back. Another "talented" player, whose temperament fails him.

I must have missed the 2 double hundreds bopara has scored in ODIs to justify faith in his ability ...

I think we have to be very carefull about how we look at today's game. Obviously it was an excellent bowling performance backed up by a well paced chase, but, we're not going to be able to bowl top sides out so cheaply very often.

For me, the true test of this England side is going to be when they have to chase down 300 to 350 or what they can post batting first.

Still, it was very good to see Finn and Anderson bowling so well. Bell looked completely at home at the top of the order and showed why it was such a travesty that Cook was ever prefered to him.

I read this yeaterday adn, on the whole, agree with it. This quote though, I thought ridiculous:
That Warner was being "polite" in asking Rohit Sharma to say what he has to say in English. "Polite" would have been for Warner to learn to speak Hindi. On a couple of Australian tours to India and in half a dozen seasons in the IPL, Warner has had more opportunity to learn Hindi than Sharma has had exposure to English. But really, "polite" would have been to bite his tongue, since it was wagging way out of turn anyway.

Bite his tongue, fair enough. That should be his mantra.

An excellent performance, certainly wasn't expecting such a comprehensive victory.

Managed to catch 40 minutes or so of us batting before work. All too easy for Bell, typically strong driving and aiming behind point. Taylor wasn't middling everything but didn't looked troubled and still went along at a brisk rate.

Other teams seem to be trying out different plans and squad players at the moment. England are bedding in their plan A. Will the other members of the party get to play in the remaining games?

Vijay should be there and a decent case for Yuvi maybe but that's about it. Irfan just coming back from injury has had no chance to prove himself - Rishi Dhawan should be there. Also, Kulkarni did well playing for Ind A in List a matches in Aus, so with the way our seamers are going he's probably worth a bowl

Good question. Will be interesting to see if England rest a few players for the later ODIs, especially if Australia beat India making it virtually impossible for India to qualify. I for one would like to see Ballance and Hales given a run out (although we know what Tredwell can do, and Jordan can't...).

15 man squads don't give much cover or plan B, do they?
