Broad has been infuriating. He has always looked a cracking bowler when he has bowled full. Yet for years he has insisted - or been told to - bowl back of a length. It's been pointed out that he has a very similar record to Jimmy over the last few years, is it safe to say he's under rated?

I think he's bowled very well the entire series without the wickets to match that.

might be reading too much into it but we have seen all the England bowlers keep a much fuller length this summer

cant be a coincidence that its been since Gibson took over from Saker

Atherton is turning this into a in depth interview rather than an end of game chat. No doubt we'll get a repeat at the Oval.

Ponting reckons 8 of the tour party have played their last test. Harris, Rogers and Clarke will all supposedly retire at the end of the series, though I can see CA doing everything in their power to try and convince Rogers to play one.

Haddin is almost certainly done, hard to see Vogues being persisted with. Watson might struggle to get back into the team unless the selectors feel they need to keep some senior player around. I've never seen what Australia see in Shaun Marsh.

Even then I only get up to seven.

Suppose Siddle must be the other.

Finn and Broad have bowled much fuller consistantly than we've seen for a long time in this series. Hard to make any judgement on Wood.

It'll be interesting, won't it?

Harris has gone, Rogers is going, Clarke is going, Haddin is done, Twatto is done, Siddle is probably done

The Marshes have got a lot of work to do. Voges might stick around, but he's 35 or something. Nevill did okay.

I agree that the bowling line up won't change much, and that's probably where Australia's depth is.

I wonder if there has ever been such a bipolar series in the history of the game. There has been no middle ground, England dominated three tests and were hammered in the other.

I hope this isn't the way Test cricket is going.

Maybe the prediction from the ECB chairman Graves that 4-day tests are the future, will come true.

been a little discussion going on elsewhere about home advantage in tests and I wanted to check Australia's record away to SA , I knew they had done well there but was very surprised to see that since SA came back into test cricket that they haven't beaten Australia in a test series on home soil

To be honest though, England doesn't really produce "home advantage". Sure the ball may swing, but that's a lot to do with the weather as well as the pitch. You don't see green tops in England and it's nothing compared to the bunsens India can produce.

I think Kimber summed it up well, this should be a time for introspection for Australia not inspection. They have repeatedly refused to play to the conditions.

I think a good example of conditions rather than pitches affecting games was at Melbourne and Sidney in 2010-11 when their was rain and cloud around and both our bowlers and our batsmen prospered whilst Australia were all at sea against the moving ball.
