All of that talk about declaring last night was utter stupidity. Pakistan got 460 odd in the 4th innings here in a DN game recently.... declaring your first innings would have been madness.

I think this makes three drops off Archer's bowling. Or four?

Unlucky, but he really does need to work on limiting his visual displays of displeasure at this. The one of Head by Smith had Archer behaving like it had decided the Ashes - with his head in his hands, hands between his knees type of reaction. Not good team play, imo.

Besides the advantage of getting 44 runs ahead, the other thing that Australia has done today is to ensure that England will be back in the field for a decent time at least in the first session.

Archer is bound to be a bit sore tomorrow, how will his skipper be?

More of a first innings at Brisbane sort of score today.

Bowlers let down by the fielders... Formal apologies in the dressing room?

He served up an absolute pie of a half volley in session 1, then got stroppy with Stokes at Mid-off being out of position when Labu smashed it past him for 4..... Stokes was not out of position, and you could sense Archer's frustration was still lingering.

I guess post-series, if England lose (and they might have all but done that by the weekend if they go 2-0 down), some of these moments will be dug up. Even Stokes, dripping with hostility, answering a reporter the other day about that helmet thing like he was talking to his mother who had just smacked his bum with a wooden spoon.... the optics and his face were bathed in defeatism. He could have easily answered with a grin and smile and it gone away....

He usually does that. You really get the sense the team are on the edge.

Just seen a good spot. What is the only dismissal by an English born player in the series.

Josh Inglis' runout of Ben Stokes.
