Cloudy with rain about at Headingley later. Maybe a bowling day.

hurrah for that......

however in order to do it they had to play until 6.40pm

and that was despite bowling 37 overs of spin........ on day one of a test match in Englands

To be fair there was a 30 minute rain delay.

Stop bowling short to Southee again! It never works!

I think we need to take the title of world's luckiest cricketer off Stokes and give it to Mitchell.

How many let-offs has he had this series? Three hundreds, and he should have been out for under 20 in each of them.

Out to the last ball before lunch. Well done lad.

Amazing stats for Potts, even if only one wicket.

Still hasnt been as lucky as Stokes in that series away to India ...he was bowled twice without the wicket breaking

It is beyond me why they keep doing this. Surely all the data they collect must show how many runs opposition tail enders make off these tactics ? Of course since they never try anything else they can't actually prove an alternative method would work better :)

But you'd think they might give something else a try by now...

I didn't know that, but the point remains the same... they had to bowl 37 overs of spin to fit in all the overs. I haven't seen anything anywhere that suggests it was a 37 overs of spin on day 1 pitch .

Not even the 5-fer for Leach?

Bairstow saves England from total humiliation, fair play to him. But still realistically looking at a loss within 4 days.

I think Boult beat the bat four times that over.
