India 171-7

Rohit 57 from 39
SKY 47

Jordan 3-37

The Trinidad pitch was poor, but the Guyana pitch, though a little slow, is offering more of a contest between bat and ball.

Not when England are batting.

Thought this might happen.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. England have been thumped by every decent team they've played, somehow made thevsemi by thrashing minnows. Only one good performance in beating WI.

Two best teams in the final, let's hope it's more of a contest.

Can't argue with that. The pitch may not have been perfect, but the difference between the performances was marked.

Well done India. I hope they bring it home

Good point! England struggled against good spin bowling on a pitch that offered them some assistance.

England 103 all out

Brook 25

Kuldeep 3-19
Axar 3-23

I think it was a mistake to leave Root at home when most of the World T20s was in the Caribbean on pitches that were more bowlers friendly.

The West Indies did better than I expected, largely because they included conventional batsmen such as Chase and Hope, who did better than bashers such as Powell and Charles.

The final features two unbeaten teams who won all their matches.

All a bit predictable in truth. On the form lines through this WC , India had to be strong favourites - and they duly saluted. Could call it a disappointing display from England (the batting looked pretty shambolic ; but I think that mainly came from the knowledge that they were chasing a target at least 25 runs too high - and India's spinners were just too good.) Semi-finalists was about where they were entitled to finish this time , and at least it wasn't the embarrassment of an early group exit like that 50 over WC !

It is t20. Australia won one of these three years ago but have missed the knockouts now twice in a row so not getting too fussed over this. Time for a bit of a white ball rebuild but plenty of time for that before the next serious event so can concentrate on proper cricket now...

India to win the final ? I'd think they are favourites , though SA have been real fighters in this tournament. Reckon the Indian spin strength will probably give them the edge but hopefully we will get a good contest with minimal interference from the weather.

England managed to beat the West Indies, but other than that just thumped Oman, Nambia and the US.

Faced with Australia, SA and India they had nothing

Very true with the Rooter. Has been in decent touch for Yorkshire in the Blast, clearing the ropes with power as well as his deft touches.

The lack of a second specialist spinner was telling. England would rather field part time trundlers than pick Liam Dawson.

It's tempting to think that Stokes was probably a big miss, but his absence was something England had no control over

Stokes is always a big miss : not Mr Consistent ; but tends to produce something spectacular in critical matches. Plus he seems to make others around him walk taller.

But t20 isn't his best format and I doubt he'd have been able to help England overcome this excellent Indian side...and anyway for his own good he needs to stick to Tests to prolong his career.

It is true England mainly just overcame the associates : but to be fair they were pretty close to SA in a match that really could have gone either way. Don't think this tournament means they are suddenly rubbish , but will obviously need some rebuilding work over the next year or two...which won't include Stokes. Hopefully Rashid has another WC in him as he's the one man they can't replace...
