cheers Yuppie. I wouldn't have been surprised to find that there had been no delays at all, tbh. It seems to be the way test cricket is going

So, they were off for bad light, but they are not starting earlier tomorrow to make up,for lost overs.

No, they will extend the 2nd and 3rd sessions instead, even though bad light late in the day is a bit of a Durban thing...

And people say Test Cricket has its problems.

It does seem very strange. I guess there is the real chance that this test will loose at least 10 overs every day.

New ball in 4 overs, SA might well knock over Australia for less than 250.

Will be interesting to see how SA handle Lyon on this pitch. Australia will need to give him enough runs to bowl though.

Maybe, but that was decent resistance from Paine and Mitch3. Paine has played a few nuisance innings since he came back. He might not get you a ton, but he holds the opposition up and supports the last batter. Like keepers used to do.

Yes, I think Paine is a great return to the 'keepers of old for Aus - after being incredibly spoiled when we had Gilchrist. Paine is the best 'keeper in Aus, imo, and good enough with the bat to hold his spot.

Too early to take the axe from the axe cupboard on this tour, but that's yet another failure for Bancroft, and yet another away from home for Usman. Surely it's they who are in the crosshairs of the armchair snipers now, rather than the Marshes?

Usman averages 27.2 outside Australia. I know there's a point that SA conditions are the most like Australia, but that's not really true. The tracks in SA help the bowlers. He does have a ton v SA in Australia.

Bancroft averages 23 in his sixth game.

Highest partnership of the innings so far. Two batsman who it looked like would never play for Australia again this time last year.

Australias lack of cover means Bancroft will get a few more games in this series.

As for Usman, this could well be his last series as well.......

Wicket off the first over with new ball as Rabada strikes. Bowled the whole over in 140 - 145 kph range.

To move it both ways, at 140 - 145 kph, while also managing to maintain excellent line and length is incredible. if he can bowl whole spell like this then it will be a dream pace bowlers spell imo.

There is relatively very little purchase for the pacers unlike in the previous series between SA and India in SA. Aussies will need a good partnership from lower order.

Score is creeping up though. Significant contribution from Mitch3 here. The Aussies third fifty of the innings, but no one has made 60. Twenty-six added with Mitch2.
