Am also noticing a general lack of interest in this match given zero posts here for five days preceding it ! Only Pakistan ? Mourning the departure of Stokes (I know I still am ) perhaps ? Or everybody too fascinated by The Hundred ?

It's hard to get pumped up for a "new" epoque of English cricket, when the new regime is being lead by the same person who orchestrated the last abhorrent failure, flanked by a captain who was previously very poor at the job, and who recently took back the reigns for one game and started setting fields like he'd been taking LSD. And that's before we get into Key continually promising changes, but at the same time continually defending and championing all the things the previous era did. We changed bowling tactics for one game, we won that game comfortably, and then defaulted straight back to his original plan... and lost.

The team needs to change, but it has to want to change. I don't get the sense it will with Root and Key in charge, so I am hardly champing at the bit to see what this team can do.
